New 3G All-Weather Pitch Opens in Barnsley with Help From The Wosskow Brown Foundation

The impressive new turf is located at Dorothy Hyman sports centre in Cudworth, Barnsley.
Our WB100 programme, part of which involves helping 100 sports clubs, has helped to re-build the previous disused 3G pitch which has been closed since 2012 after being declared unfit for use.
We contacted the Football Foundation about help with funding for this project, and they agreed to provide funding The total cost of this new facility came to £350,000 for the 3G pitch, perimeter fencing and lighting.
It is a full-size, 11-a-side pitch, which is expected to mainly be divided into smaller section for junior training sessions. The new ground can also be used for 5-a-side matches.
The pitch will be used by local junior team Pinfold Pumas, amongst other local clubs such as Darfield.
Pinfold Pumas are an incredibly diverse, accepting club which is very pleasant to see. They have developed 20 teams including adults teams, girls teams, boys teams and disability teams.
Jason Stokes, Pinfold Pumas Club Chairman, said that it’s great to have such an amazing facility in this location because a lot of the people training at Dorothy Hyman live locally. Whereas before this new development, people were having to travel elsewhere.
The opening of the new facility was a great event, with Dorothy Hyman herself attending.
